CPSC recalls 2.3 million Ricky Joy candy bottles over choking risk
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a nationwide recall on September 10, 2026, involving about 2.3 million Ricky Joy Sour Crush Rolling Liquid Candy bottles. The rollerball on the bottle can detach and pose a risk of serious injury or death from choking.
The recall covers specific 1.85-fluid-ounce liquid-candy bottles sold individually and in packs of three or 12. The CPSC said no injuries had been reported in its notice.
Which candy bottles are recalled
The affected products dispense sour liquid candy through a rollerball top. The recalled flavors and bottle colors are:
- Blue raspberry in blue bottles
- Strawberry in red bottles
- Green apple in green bottles
- Watermelon in pink bottles
Consumers should look for the Ricky Joy logo, the words “EXTREME SOUR” and “SOUR CRUSH,” a flavor name and a green monster image on the front of the bottle. The recall is limited to the named Sour Crush rolling liquid candy bottles; it does not cover every Sour Crush product.
Where and when they were sold
The recalled bottles were sold nationwide and online from January 2023 through May 2026. The CPSC listed H-E-B, Forman Mill and other candy stores, as well as Walmart.com, CandyFunHouse.com, RickyJoy.com and other online retailers.
The CPSC said individual bottles sold for about $3, while packs sold for between $13 and $32.
What consumers should do
Stop using the recalled bottles immediately, even if a bottle appears intact. Take them away from children and do not allow children to handle or use them because the rollerball can detach.
Consumers should use Ricky Joy’s recall registration process to request a refund. The company’s recall page asks for the flavor, number of units, purchase information when available, the product’s condition and photographs showing the label and cap with the lot number and expiration date. Eligible consumers will receive a prepaid return-shipping label, and the refund will be issued after the returned product is received and verified.
Do not return the recalled product to a retail store through the company’s recall process. Consumers can also contact The Ricky Joy Company at 404-975-0352 during the listed weekday business hours.
If a child may have swallowed a detached component or is choking, seek emergency medical help immediately.
What is known about injuries
The CPSC notice reported no injuries. The agency’s warning describes the potential consequence of a detached rollerball—serious injury or death from choking—but does not report that a death or injury occurred.
