Nearly 180,000 Finger-Light Toys Recalled Over Button-Battery Risk

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission listed a recall September 10, 2026, for about 179,739 California Cade Electronic projecting finger-light toys sold nationwide through Amazon. The toys contain button-cell batteries that children can access, creating a risk of serious internal chemical burns or death if a battery is swallowed.

The recalled products were sold on Amazon.com from March 2015 through July 2026 for about $5 to $16. No injuries or incidents had been reported when the recall was issued.

What was recalled

The recalled California Cade Electronic Finger Lights come in 50-piece boxes in white, blue, red and green. The package labels identify the products as “California Cade Electronic” and “Finger Flashlights.” Each finger light contains three button-cell batteries.

The CPSC said the battery compartments allow children to access the batteries, making the toys noncompliant with the mandatory safety standard for toys. The standard requires button- or coin-cell battery compartments on toys to be secured against access by young children.

Why button batteries are dangerous

If swallowed, a button or coin battery can become lodged in a child’s throat or esophagus. The CPSC warns that a battery can burn through a child’s throat or esophagus in as little as two hours, causing serious internal chemical burns and potentially fatal injuries.

Anyone who believes a child may have swallowed a button battery should seek emergency medical care immediately and call the National Battery Ingestion Hotline at 800-498-8666 or Poison Help at 800-222-1222. Do not wait for symptoms to appear.

What consumers should do

Consumers should stop using the recalled finger lights immediately and take them away from children. The CPSC says buyers should dispose of the finger lights as directed, then contact Cade California Electronic at ccecamazonservice@gmail.com for a full refund.

The company says consumers will be asked to send a photo of the disposed product as part of the refund process. The CPSC separately notes that button-cell batteries are hazardous and should be disposed of or recycled under local hazardous-waste procedures.

Check other children’s products

The recall applies to the California Cade Electronic finger lights identified above. It does not cover every finger-light toy or every children’s product sold on Amazon.

Families should check playrooms, party-supply boxes and recent online orders for the recalled 50-piece packages. The CPSC also recommends checking other children’s products that use button or coin batteries. Battery compartments should be secured with a screw or require a tool to open.
