De Castro lifts Vermont to first America East win
Vermont earned its first America East field hockey win of the season Friday, Oct. 9, beating UMass Lowell 1-0 at Moulton Winder Field in Burlington.
Consu de Castro scored at 33:56 in the third quarter, with Veerle Nijhuis credited with the assist. It was the game’s only goal.
After the game, Vermont was 9-2 overall and 1-1 in America East. UMass Lowell was 6-6 overall and also 1-1 in the conference.
Vermont was scheduled to host Appalachian State on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. As of Saturday, Oct. 10, that game was still upcoming.
