30 life-size elephant sculptures on view in downtown Livermore
Thirty life-size elephant sculptures are on display at Bankhead Plaza and Stockmenโs Park in downtown Livermore. The Great Elephant Migration: A Family Gathering opened Oct. 10 and is scheduled to run through Dec. 6, 2026. The exhibition host says admission is free and the display is open to the public.
The Livermore installation is a smaller iteration of the traveling project. Local reporting describes it as a 30-sculpture mini-migration drawn from a larger group of 100 elephants. Indigenous artisans in southern India made the sculptures from dried lantana plants. The figures are modeled on real wild elephants known to the artisans, and the exhibition host identifies the makers as part of The Real Elephant Collective. The host frames the wider project around conservation and cultural themes.
