A former Moretown psychotherapist was ordered to repay $4,551.62 and barred from practicing psychotherapy for five years after a Vermont court deferred sentencing following her felony Medicaid-fraud conviction.
Washington County Superior Court in Vermont imposed the five-year deferred sentence on Oct. 15, 2026, after a contested sentencing hearing, the Vermont Attorney Generalโs Office said. The office identified Amy L. Siegel, also known as Amy S. Lang, 49, as the defendant.
Siegel admitted falsely billing the state for more than $4,000 in treatment that was not provided, the Attorney Generalโs Office said. The restitution covers 48 claims for treatment for one patient that Siegel did not provide.
Siegel must comply with probation terms during the five-year period. If she meets those terms, the court could later vacate the conviction; it has not been vacated. The case was jointly investigated by the Attorney Generalโs Medicaid Fraud and Residential Abuse Unit and the Department of Vermont Health Access Special Investigations Unit.
