Fire destroyed one of six buildings at the vacant former Blossom Apartments on Woodbine Street in Jackson on Friday, October 23, 2026, according to reports from WLBT and 16 WAPT. Jackson firefighters responded to the blaze. WLBT reported that the building was fully engulfed and gutted; WAPT also reported that a building was destroyed.
That is one of the complexโs six buildingsโabout one-sixth of its building countโnot evidence that the entire complex burned. Both outlets described the property as vacant or abandoned. WAPT reported that tenants had previously been ordered to leave because of unsafe and unsanitary conditions; its report did not specify the year of that evacuation.
The reports do not establish how the fire started or whether anyone was injured. WAPTโs report also does not say whether the fire displaced anyone, and the buildingโs status afterward is not established.
