The death of a 20-year-old man found with a gunshot wound on Woolsey Road is being investigated as a homicide, Yakima police said. Officers responded at about 12:49 a.m. Oct. 31, 2026, to reports of gunfire in the 5700 block, found the man in the street and attempted lifesaving measures. He died, police said.
Police said a large gathering was nearby before the shooting and that some attendees appeared to have gang affiliation. Investigators said preliminary evidence indicates there may have been an exchange of gunfire involving multiple people, but that is not a confirmed account of who fired the fatal shot. Detectives are trying to identify anyone involved.
Police said no suspect information was available at the time of their statement. Anyone with information about the shooting can contact Detective Isaac Ayon at 509-576-6752 or Crime Stoppers Yakima Valley.
