Idaho voters favored the Winchester Model 1873 in the state’s nonbinding advisory vote on an official state gun. Unofficial Secretary of State returns from all 44 counties showed the rifle leading six choices with 159,929 votes, or 31.09%, followed by the Winchester Model 1894 with 130,206 votes, or 25.31%.
The Colt Single Action Army received 78,489 votes, the Remington Model 700 had 64,141, the Colt M1911 had 45,163 and the M1 Garand had 36,522. The advisory result does not itself designate a state gun: the official voter guide says the Legislature would need to act in a future session.
