El Paso regular gas: AAAโs June 23 metro-area average for regular is $3.69 per gallon, down from $3.72 yesterday and $3.88 a week ago. The month-over-month picture is also lower: AAA lists $4.27 a month ago.
El Paso diesel: AAAโs June 23 metro-area average is $4.57 per gallon. Itโs slightly lower than yesterday ($4.60), and itโs easing versus last week ($4.78) and last month ($5.17).
Still paying more than a year ago
Even with todayโs dip, AAAโs โyear agoโ comparison shows persistent cost pressure. Regular is $3.69 now versus $2.97 a year ago, and diesel is $4.57 now versus $3.36 a year agoโmeaning both fuel types are still meaningfully higher than last summer.
National context (quick direction check)
EIAโs latest weekly gasoline and on-highway diesel update points in the same general direction: U.S. regular gasoline and on-highway diesel both came down versus the prior week in the June 23 release.
What this means for El Paso-area drivers and fleets
For commuters, a lower regular-gas snapshot can make a noticeable difference on frequent fill-upsโespecially for households that refuel more often than they realize once summer road trips and weekend errands stack up. For delivery drivers, contractors, and fleet operators, dieselโs easing versus last week and last month is the headline, but the year-over-year gap is a reminder that fuel budgeting still needs a โhigher-than-last-yearโ baseline. If diesel stays elevated, businesses that route vehicles through El Paso consistently may still see operating costs creep upward even when the day-to-day price softens.
