Myrtle Beach gas jumps 10 cents, diesel rises, both still below last week

AAA’s May 13 price check shows Myrtle Beach metro regular gas at $4.093 a gallon and diesel at $5.233. Regular gas is up 9.9 cents from yesterday, while diesel is up 3 cents. Even with that daily rebound, both are still below last week’s local averages.

Regular gas is down 5.6 cents from a week ago, up 30.7 cents from a month ago, and 131.3 cents higher than a year ago. Diesel is down 5.4 cents from a week ago, down 34.5 cents from a month ago, and 206.1 cents higher than a year ago.

That split matters for different kinds of drivers. Commuters and households are feeling the fast day-to-day moves at the regular pump, while contractors, delivery drivers, restaurants, service businesses, and other diesel users are still dealing with a much steeper year-over-year cost base.

Myrtle Beach also remains below both state and national benchmarks. South Carolina’s current average is $4.134 for regular gas and $5.313 for diesel. The U.S. averages are $4.511 for regular gas and $5.659 for diesel.

The broader fuel backdrop still points to a choppy market, which is why a small local jump can show up even when Myrtle Beach remains softer than the state and national averages. For drivers headed into the weekend, the practical move is simple: compare nearby stations, watch for another swing, and plan ahead if you can avoid a last-minute fill-up.
