Sonora parents: How to weigh in June 22 on Tuolumne County LCAP & budget
Tuolumne County Board of Education will hold a June 22 public hearing on the 2026-27 LCAP and budget—plus where to inspect and comment.
Sonora-area families have a chance to weigh in before the Tuolumne County Board of Education considers adopting the 2026-2027 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the 2026-2027 budget.
In a public notice posted June 10, 2026, the board says it will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. The hearing will be held in person at 175 Fairview Lane, Sonora, CA 95370, Room 217, with participation also offered via Zoom.
What the board is hearing on
The notice says the public hearing is being held under Education Code 52062 to solicit recommendations and comments on the specific actions and expenditures proposed for inclusion in the 2026-2027 LCAP and the 2026-2027 Budget.
When and where to attend
Per the notice, the hearing is scheduled as part of the board’s regular meeting on June 22, at 4:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as practicable.
How to review the LCAP and budget documents
The notice states that the LCAP and budget will be available for public inspection at least 72 hours before the public hearing at the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office (175 Fairview Lane, Sonora). To set up an appointment to view the documents, residents are instructed to contact Zack Abernathy at 209-536-2010 or zabernathy@tcsos.us.
The notice also lists three posting locations where documents can be inspected: the TCSOS office, the Summerville Elementary School District office, and the Jamestown School District office.
How to provide public comment
For people who can’t attend in person, the notice says public comment can be submitted by emailing zabernathy@tcsos.us regarding the proposed 2026-2027 LCAP and/or the 2026-2027 Budget.
What happens next after the hearing
The June 22 session is the public hearing on the proposed LCAP and budget. The notice says the board will consider adopting the 2026-2027 LCAP and 2026-2027 Budget at a subsequent board meeting on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in a hybrid format.
For statewide context, California’s LCAP requirements include developing and adopting the LCAP at a public meeting on or before July 1 each year—so this June hearing and June 23 consideration fits that annual timeline.
