OSHA Opens Nearly $13 Million in Worker-Safety Training Grants
United States Labor Workers and Federal Enforcement – OSHA opened a new round of Susan Harwood training grants with $12.7 million available. Applications are due July 31 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
OSHA opened a new round of worker-safety training grants on July 1, making $12.7 million available to organizations that train workers and employers to spot, avoid and prevent workplace hazards.
The funding is part of OSHA’s Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, which supports hands-on safety education across the United States. OSHA says the program helps workers understand their rights and helps employers understand their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
Who can apply
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, labor unions, trade associations, state and local government-supported colleges and universities, OSHA-approved state plans, On-Site Consultation program entities and OSHA Training Institute Education Centers.
OSHA says the program gives priority to small businesses, high-hazard industries and workers who face barriers to getting safety and health training.
What the money covers
The grants are meant for training and educational materials tied to workplace hazard awareness, avoidance and controls. Applicants must develop new safety and health materials and validate them through instructor-led classroom training.
This is an application round, not an award announcement. OSHA says selected applicants will receive a notice of award later, and no federal funds are obligated until that notice is accepted.
The deadline is July 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time. OSHA says applications must be submitted through Grants.gov, and applicants must complete registration steps before filing.
For worker groups, unions, colleges and training organizations, the main takeaway is simple: the window is open now, but it closes fast.
