Scottsdale police plan July 4 DUI enforcement over holiday weekend
Scottsdale Police says DUI enforcement will run during evening hours from Friday, July 3, through Sunday, July 5, with East Valley partners and a simple message: plan a sober ride.
Holiday DUI enforcement runs July 3-5
Scottsdale Police is planning DUI enforcement for the July 4 weekend and urging drivers to arrange a sober ride before the holiday starts. In a June 30 city release, the department said the task force will operate during evening hours from Friday, July 3, through Sunday, July 5.
East Valley agencies are joining the task force
The city says the effort includes partner agencies from Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Salt River, and Tempe, along with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Arizona Department of Transportation, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Officers will use saturation patrols in various areas of the East Valley.
The practical advice: decide your ride now
Scottsdale Police says DUI collisions are preventable. If you plan to drink alcohol or use recreational marijuana, the department recommends lining up a sober designated driver ahead of time. Ride-share services and taxis are also listed as safer options home.
For Scottsdale residents, workers, visitors, and late-night drivers, the message is simple: make the plan before the first drink. The enforcement window covers the busiest holiday hours, when last-minute transportation choices can be the riskiest.
