Apex Council to Hear Annexation and Rezoning Cases Aug. 11

Apex Town Council is scheduled to hear a series of annexation and rezoning cases on Aug. 11, 2026, including requests involving properties on Evans Road and Olive Chapel Road and an amendment for the Veridea development area.

The scheduled hearings could change Apex’s development footprint and land-use rules as the town manages continued residential and mixed-use growth. The cases remain scheduled actions, not final approvals.

What council will consider

The council agenda includes Annexation No. 828 and Rezoning 26CZ04 for 2913 Evans Road. The annexation covers 0.570 acres. The Town of Apex’s legal notice identifies the property as one of the locations set for an Aug. 11 council hearing.

Council also is scheduled to consider Annexation No. 831 involving 1.481 acres at 2412 Olive Chapel Road. The associated rezoning matter is part of the same Aug. 11 hearing cycle.

The owner of the 2412 Olive Chapel Road property has requested a continuance to Sept. 10, 2026. Council is scheduled to consider that request on Aug. 11, so the hearing date for that matter could change depending on the council’s action.

The agenda also includes Rezoning 26CZ03, described in the town notice as a Veridea SD Plan Amendment. The approved notice does not establish the amendment’s final development yield or specify the number of homes, amount of commercial space or infrastructure commitments that could be associated with it.

Planning Board hearing comes first

A separate rezoning case, 26CZ05, is scheduled for an Apex Planning Board public hearing on Aug. 10, 2026. The case concerns 3305 Olive Chapel Road.

The Planning Board’s official 2026 schedule confirms the Aug. 10 meeting date and provides the town’s planning-board record location for the hearing cycle. The following day, Town Council is scheduled to take up the cases listed for its Aug. 11 meeting.

What the notices do — and do not — establish

Annexation would bring land into Apex’s municipal boundary, while rezoning would address how land may be used under the town’s land-use rules. In these cases, however, the public notice establishes that hearings are scheduled; it does not show that any annexation or rezoning has been approved.

The notice also does not provide enough information to determine the eventual number of residences, commercial square footage or infrastructure commitments connected to the cases. Those details should not be treated as settled before the relevant hearings and any later council action.

For residents and property owners near Evans Road, Olive Chapel Road and the Veridea development area, the immediate next step is the public hearing process. The Planning Board hearing is scheduled for Aug. 10, followed by the Town Council agenda on Aug. 11. The requested continuance for 2412 Olive Chapel Road, if granted, would move that matter to Sept. 10.
