Appleton committee advances amended ALPR resolution
Appletonโs Safety and Licensing Committee amended Resolution #16-R-26 on Oct. 14 and recommended it for approval, advancing a proposal concerning the cityโs use of automated license-plate-reader (ALPR) cameras to the Common Council. The cityโs meeting page records both actions as passed and lists the minutes as final.
The reproduced agenda history says the amendment motion carried 3-1; that tally was for the amendment, not a council vote on the resolution. The agenda also lists 11 people as having addressed the committee on the item but does not summarize their remarks. The resolution is titled โLimiting the Use of ALPR Cameras in the City of Appleton.โ
The Common Council agenda lists the resolution for consideration on Oct. 21, 2026. As of Oct. 18, no council decision had been established. The committeeโs recommendation did not enact the proposal or change city policy; it remains subject to council action.
