Avondale schedules hearings for proposed operations warehouse

Avondale has scheduled public hearings on a proposal to change the land-use designation and zoning for approximately 9.03 acres at the northeast corner of Lower Buckeye Road and 4th Street. The plan would make the site eligible for a city-owned operations warehouse of about 21,000 square feet, along with outdoor storage facilities.

The applications are Minor General Plan Amendment PL-25-0263 and Rezone PL-25-0264. The proposed General Plan change would replace the site’s Industrial designation with Public/Civic. The proposed zoning change would replace Urban Residential R1-6 with Planned Area Development.

The Avondale Planning Commission will hold the first public hearing at 6 p.m. Aug. 19, 2026, at Avondale City Hall. The commission advises the City Council on planning and land-use matters. Its meeting schedule lists Aug. 19 as the monthly meeting date, with agendas generally posted at least 24 hours before meetings.

The city’s project notice says no decisions have been made by the public-hearing boards. The Aug. 19 hearing is the next formal opportunity for public testimony, followed by a City Council hearing scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14, 2026.
