BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. โ Batesburg-Leesville Town Council has approved Branham Groupโs selection for proposed solar-array work at the townโs wastewater treatment plant, advancing a project intended to proceed under a Community Planning and Revitalization Grant, or CPRG.
The town announced the action as an โintent to awardโ on April 13, 2026. That is a procurement step, not confirmation that construction is complete, that the solar array is operating or that a final contract has been executed.
What changed
The approved selection identifies Branham Group as the company chosen for the solar-array work at the wastewater treatment plant. The councilโs action moves the proposal beyond the selection stage, but the available town notice does not establish that the project has reached construction or operation.
If implemented, the project could reduce the plantโs electricity costs and the townโs municipal emissions. The official notice, however, does not state how large the array would be, how much electricity it could generate or how much money or emissions it could save.
Those missing details matter for residents, taxpayers and local businesses trying to understand the projectโs eventual effect on town operations. The available materials also do not provide the projectโs dollar value, funding share or construction timetable. They identify the proposal as being under a CPRG grant, but do not establish that it is fully funded.
What remains unresolved
The townโs announcement does not say whether a contract has been signed with Branham Group. It also does not provide a completion date or other schedule for installing the array.
As a result, the documented development is the councilโs approval of the selected companyโnot a completed renewable-energy installation or a recorded reduction in the wastewater plantโs utility costs. Any estimate of project savings, generating capacity or emissions reductions would go beyond the information in the available official notice.
Next scheduled council meeting
The townโs official meeting calendar lists a regular Mayor and Council meeting for August 10, 2026. The meeting is scheduled for 120 West Church Street, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006.
That meeting is the next scheduled public opportunity for a possible implementation update. The calendar does not specify that a solar-array action or project report will occur on that date, so the next step remains uncertain.
For now, Batesburg-Leesville has selected Branham Group for the proposed wastewater-treatment-plant solar project under the CPRG program. Information about the final contract, project cost, capacity, funding and construction schedule would be needed to determine when residents might see an operational project or measurable financial and environmental results.
