Charlestonโs Committee on Real Estate backed a proposed $1 million purchase of part of the Longborough Owners Association property, including its dock, on Oct. 26, 2026. The dock is on Charlestonโs Upper Peninsula, Live 5 News reported. The city agenda lists an item authorizing Mayor William Cogswell to execute a memorandum of understanding with the association concerning public access to the water.
The proposal is intended to provide public access, but final access terms are not established. Cogswell described it as a compromise. Committee backing is not a completed purchase and does not establish that the dock is open to the public.
The agenda does not identify a later approval or transaction step or set a date for a transfer or public opening.
