Beaumont Candidates Face Aug. 7 Deadline for Three Council Seats and Two Citywide Offices

Beaumont’s regular nomination deadline for five city offices is Friday, Aug. 7, with a possible extension through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, for candidates other than an incumbent if an incumbent does not file by the regular deadline.

The 2026 municipal election will include three City Council member seats, one city treasurer seat and one city clerk seat. Beaumont’s general municipal election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Five offices are available

Beaumont’s Election Central page lists three City Council member seats, one city treasurer seat and one city clerk seat for the 2026 election.

The nomination period opened July 13 and closes Friday, Aug. 7. If an incumbent does not file by Aug. 7, Beaumont says the filing period will be extended to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, for candidates other than that incumbent. The extension is conditional; the city has not said that it will apply in every race.

What the city has posted about candidates

Beaumont’s 2026 candidate-information page lists campaign and nomination documents received from Lloyd White, Jessica Voigt, Joseph Mathews, James Mercado, Mike Lara and Carlos Cueva.

The current page identifies Lloyd White, Jessica Voigt and Mike Lara as incumbents. Joseph Mathews and Mike Lara are labeled “Official Candidate” on the page. The entries for Lloyd White, Jessica Voigt, James Mercado and Carlos Cueva list documents received but do not carry that same label.

The page also states: “At this time there are no qualified candidates.” That means the posted document record and the page’s official-candidate labels should not be treated as a final certified ballot. The listed document dates range from May 2024 through July 30, 2026, so not every filing shown was submitted during the 2026 nomination period.

Who can file

Beaumont’s stated qualifications require a candidate to be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old and a registered voter living in the city.

Prospective candidates must make an appointment and file through the Deputy City Clerk. The city’s procedural guidance says forms on file must have original signatures; email and fax submissions are not sufficient.

Appointments are scheduled through the Beaumont Civic Center at 550 E. 6th Street. Beaumont’s Election Central page lists 951-769-8520 for appointments. The city’s candidate guidance separately lists Deputy City Clerk Nicole Wheelwright at 951-572-3196. Prospective candidates should confirm the current contact and appointment instructions before arriving.
