Berkeley County intends to award $14.5 million road-resurfacing project as Goose Creek work nears

Berkeley County intends to award Banks Construction Company a $14,478,648.31 road-resurfacing project, while separate county schedules call for work on two Goose Creek roads beginning Wednesday, Aug. 5.

The procurement is the county’s 2026 CTC Local Road Resurfacing project, solicitation 43105-02-25/26. The county’s records show an intent-to-award date of July 2, 2026.

What the procurement record shows

The county’s online bids and solicitations system names Banks Construction Company as the intended awardee and lists the amount at $14,478,648.31. The underlying intent-to-award notice says Banks was the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder.

The amount applies to a Berkeley County resurfacing project, not exclusively to work inside Goose Creek. An intent to award is also not the same as proof that a final contract has been fully executed. The records reviewed establish the county’s stated procurement decision, but they do not show that every road on the county’s work schedule is funded through this project.

August work scheduled on Amy Drive

Berkeley County’s scheduled-roadwork page lists driveway paving on Amy Drive between Stephanie Drive and Mabaline Drive for Aug. 5-6, 2026.

The county lists TruLuck Roadway Services LLC as the contractor for that driveway work. Amy Drive is scheduled to remain open to traffic. Residents may need to allow about 15 minutes for access to freshly paved driveways, and county staff say they will work with residents to maintain access as much as possible.

North Pembroke work follows

North Pembroke Drive, between Monsarret Lane and South Pembroke Drive, is scheduled for milling and resurfacing Aug. 6-7, 2026.

The published work hours are 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The county lists Sanders Brothers Construction LLC as the contractor. Traffic control will be positioned at intersections and along the route, and the road is scheduled to remain open. Drivers should expect controlled traffic and possible delays rather than a full closure.

The county’s schedule is a plan, not a guarantee that work will occur exactly as listed. Its roadwork notices say weather and other conditions can shift construction timing.

What Goose Creek residents should know

The city of Goose Creek says responsibility for road repairs lies with the county or state rather than the city. Almost all streets and roads inside Goose Creek city limits are maintained by Berkeley County or the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

For the scheduled August work, drivers should allow extra time during daytime operations on North Pembroke Drive. Amy Drive residents should plan for possible brief access delays while driveways are paved, even though the road is scheduled to stay open.

Records do not establish a project connection

The county procurement listing and the scheduled-roadwork page provide two related pieces of public information: a countywide CTC resurfacing procurement and specific upcoming work in Goose Creek. The available documents do not establish that Amy Drive or North Pembroke Drive is included in the $14.48 million 2026 CTC project.
