MAGโs Transportation Policy Committee recommended an additional $36 million in programmed funding for Buckeyeโs I-10/Jackrabbit Trail interchange on Oct. 21, InBuckeye reported. The outlet described the vote as unanimous. The recommendation is not final approval; MAGโs Regional Council must still approve the increase.
If approved, the proposal would raise reported programmed funding from $176.3 million to $212.3 million. The $36 million increase is about 20.4% of the current reported amount.
The proposed increase allocates $26 million to Phase I construction and $10 million to Phase II right-of-way acquisition. That puts about 72% toward construction and 28% toward acquiring right-of-way; the recommendation itself does not mean the additional money has been spent.
The City of Buckeye identifies the interchange as an ADOT-led project involving replacement of the I-10 bridges over Jackrabbit Trail, wider ramps and roadway, and new interchange signals.
