Free workshop helps families plan for aging parents

Residents in the so-called sandwich generation have a free in-person resource today. A workshop at the Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department is offering guidance on caring for aging parents while balancing work, kids, housing decisions, and long term care costs.

Presenters from local real estate, financial planning, and estate services fields are walking attendees through options such as staying in the family home, moving to senior living, using long term care coverage, and organizing a lifetime of belongings. The session is scheduled for this morning at the Burlingame Avenue recreation facility and is open by advance registration.

Library invites community stories for new time capsule

The Burlingame Public Library is asking residents, workers, and students to help create a time capsule that will be sealed for fifty years at the Burlingame Community Center. The project, called “Burlingame: Vault to the Future,” is collecting items that capture everyday life in 2026.

Suggested contributions include photos of favorite local places, short letters about hopes for Burlingame’s future, or small objects that say something about how people live, learn, and relax in the city today. Space in the container is limited, so not every submission can be accepted, but the city hopes to represent a wide cross section of the community before the capsule is sealed later this year.
