Cary park closure remains scheduled through August 7 for repaving
Marla Dorrel Park and the Kids Together Playground remain closed in Cary during the final week of a scheduled repaving project. The closure is set to continue through August 7, 2026, weather permitting.
The park is at 111 Thurston Drive and includes the Kids Together Playground, an accessible and inclusive play area. Caryโs facility page lists the playground, basketball and multi-use slabs, picnic shelter, restrooms, public art and misting garden among the siteโs features.
Hinshaw Greenway remains open
The park closure does not close Hinshaw Greenway. Residents can continue to use the greenway for permitted walking and other greenway activities, but should not assume that the closed parkโs playground or other amenities are available.
Cary directs residents looking for another park during the shutdown to other town facilities, including Davis Drive Park.
Repaving follows accessibility and drainage work
Repaving is the remaining published phase of the project. Caryโs closure notice says earlier work included improvements to ADA parking, sidewalks and drainage.
The work affects a facility known for its inclusive design. Cary describes Kids Together Playground as a multisensory play area where children with a range of physical and mental abilities can play together.
The project is part of Caryโs broader effort to maintain public facilities and improve accessibility. The closure information does not establish that this work completes every recommendation in any townwide planning document.
August 7 is a scheduled date, not a guarantee
The published closure window runs from July 20 through August 7, 2026, weather permitting. Cary and Kids Together advise residents to check for updated town or facility notices before planning a visit.
Because the date is weather-dependent, August 7 should be treated as the end of the scheduled closure period rather than a guaranteed reopening time.
