School threats trigger evacuations and lockdowns

Several Tri-State school districts dealt with threats Wednesday morning, including Mason City Schools, Indian Hill and Cincinnati Public Schools. Authorities said students and staff were safe, and later updates indicated no credible threat.

In Indian Hill, officials evacuated the high school and middle school while responders swept the buildings. A lock-in at Walnut Hills High School was lifted after police assessed the area and cleared it.

Riverfront Live shooting: federal charges and victim support

Two men accused in the Riverfront Live shooting are now facing federal weapons charges in addition to local felonious-assault cases. Investigators say nine people were injured early Sunday, and authorities have said the victims were in stable condition.

The case is also renewing scrutiny of how off-duty officers are used at alcohol-serving venues and what responsibilities fall to private security. Cincinnati police also scheduled victim-support gatherings, including one Wednesday afternoon at 4150 Reading Rd.

Gas prices jump above $3 in parts of the metro

Drivers saw regular unleaded climb as high as about $3.19 at some area stations, with reports of sharp day-to-day increases. Analysts tied the spike to rising oil prices and market jitters tied to overseas conflict.

Weekend look-ahead: Bockfest brings road closures

Bockfest returns this weekend with its Friday evening parade through Over-the-Rhine and events spread across multiple festival halls. The parade is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., with rolling street closures beginning earlier in the afternoon. Organizers also noted Saturday-morning closures tied to the Bockfest 5K near The Banks.
