Domestic violence case tied to Clemmons ends in Kentucky

Authorities say a 40-year-old Clemmons man wanted in connection with a domestic violence case in the village has died after being shot by officers in Lexington, Kentucky earlier this week.

Investigators allege the man was involved in a series of violent incidents in Clemmons between January 30 and February 2, including assault and weapons charges. Deputies obtained multiple arrest warrants, and officers in Kentucky later located his vehicle using a license plate reader.

During an attempted traffic stop on February 3, officers opened fire, critically injuring him. Officials now say he died on Thursday. The investigation into both the original Clemmons incidents and the out-of-state shooting is continuing.

Tanglewood Park reopens after winter storm

After several days of weather-related closures, Tanglewood Park on Clemmons Road has reopened on its regular schedule. A nearby regional park is also reopening, while other county parks remain closed for now.

County staff warn that icy patches and storm damage are still present in some sections of the park, and visitors are being asked to obey barricades and posted signs while cleanup continues. The reopening comes as families look ahead to spring activities, including the campground season that begins March 1.

Cold, windy day for Clemmons

Today’s forecast calls for sunshine but temperatures struggling to reach the mid 30s, with wind gusts strong enough to trigger a formal advisory for much of the day. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the upper teens.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items, bundle up for any evening events, and be alert for slick spots in shaded areas as melting snow and ice refreeze.

Traffic alerts for the week ahead

Drivers who commute between Clemmons and Winston-Salem will face new disruptions starting Monday. Northbound lanes of NC 150 at the Clemmonsville Road bridge in Winston-Salem are scheduled to close for more than a week so crews can repair damage from a January bridge strike.

Traffic will be routed off the highway and back on using the Clemmonsville Road roundabout. In addition, alternating lane closures are planned on I-74 near mile markers 56 to 59 for construction work, which could slow traffic during afternoon and evening hours.
