Cocoa Schedules North Range Road Lane Closures Through Sept. 25

Cocoa drivers should expect intermittent daytime lane closures on North Range Road between Lake Drive and Delys Street through Sept. 25, 2026, while utility work takes place along the roadway.

Where and when the work is scheduled

The City of Cocoa’s closure notice says the lane restrictions began July 27 and are scheduled to continue through Sept. 25. Work is generally planned between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The city describes intermittent lane closures, not a full closure of North Range Road. Signage and traffic controls will be used to help vehicles move through the work area. The notice does not provide a delay estimate, detour route, contractor name, specific utility or daily closure pattern.

What drivers should expect

Drivers using North Range Road in the Lake Drive-to-Delys Street section should slow down, follow posted signs and obey traffic-control personnel or devices. Because the restrictions are intermittent and weather-dependent, the city has not said that work will occur every weekday or that the project will finish on Sept. 25 without schedule changes.

Other Cocoa-area road work is separate

The North Range Road work is separate from utility-related lane closures on Broadcast Court. The City of Cocoa’s Broadcast Court notice covers June 17 through Aug. 25, with work generally scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. That notice also calls for signage and traffic control.

Drivers should also distinguish both utility projects from the Florida Department of Transportation’s Fiske Boulevard safety project. The FDOT Project 451310-1 record covers Fiske Boulevard, or State Road 519, from Barbara Jenkins Street to King Street, or State Road 520, in Cocoa.

The Fiske project is a separate construction-phase safety project. FDOT lists improvements including a shared-use path, a traffic separator, a pedestrian crossing and related roadway changes. From Aug. 3 through Aug. 7, FDOT scheduled daytime single-lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on King Street at Fiske Boulevard for traffic-detection loop work, along with lane closures on Fiske Boulevard’s bidirectional turn lanes from Barbara Jenkins Street to King Street for traffic-separator installation.

The City of Cocoa roadway-projects page separately says traffic on Fiske Boulevard at Stone Street will return to its normal configuration beginning Aug. 5, with the center turn lane between Barbara Jenkins Street and King Street temporarily closing. That work is expected to continue into early October but is subject to change.

Schedules for all three projects may change, so drivers should rely on current signs and traffic controls when traveling through the affected areas.
