Coconut Creek Daily Brief: Holiday Hours, Police Alert, MainStreet Progress
Holiday Schedule for Presidents Day
The City of Coconut Creek has released its schedule for the upcoming Presidents Day holiday on Monday, February 16. Several city offices and services will be closed or operating on modified hours, while essential services will remain available.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for in-person services, including administrative offices and certain community facilities. Garbage, recycling, and public safety services are expected to continue without interruption.
Police Issue New Scam Alert
The Coconut Creek Police Department is warning residents about a new wave of phone and online scams reported in the area this week. The scams often involve callers posing as government officials, utilities, or financial institutions and pressuring victims to act quickly.
Police remind residents to slow down, avoid sharing personal or financial information, and independently verify any urgent request. Suspicious activity can be reported directly to the police department, and residents are encouraged to talk with older family members who are often targeted.
MainStreet Development Sees Early Activity
Drivers along Lyons Road may notice increased activity as early land preparation continues for the long-planned MainStreet development. Crews are working on site preparation and infrastructure work for the future mixed-use district.
The project is expected to become Coconut Creek’s downtown core over time, with housing, retail, green space, and civic areas. While a formal groundbreaking date has not been announced, city leaders have said visible progress will continue in the coming months.
What to Keep an Eye On
With a busy February ahead, residents can expect more updates on community events, development milestones, and city services. Keeping up with official city alerts and local announcements remains the best way to stay informed.
