Collierville-area gas near $3.75 as Memphis diesel tops $5.14
Memphis-metro regular gas averaged $3.748 on July 31, while diesel reached $5.141 after rising 10.3 cents in a week, giving Collierville drivers a mixed fuel picture.
Regular gasoline in the Memphis metro averaged $3.748 per gallon on July 31, while diesel averaged $5.141, according to the latest AAA Tennessee price check. The two fuels moved in different directions over the latest day: regular gas eased slightly, while diesel increased.
Regular gas is nearly flat day to day
AAA listed the Memphis-area regular-gas average at $3.748 per gallon, down 0.3 cents from the previous dayโs $3.751. The average was still 3.7 cents higher than a week earlier, when AAA listed regular gas at $3.711.
The Memphis figure is a regional benchmark rather than a citywide average for every Collierville station. Collierville is part of the Memphis metropolitan area, making the metro data useful context for commuters and households, but actual pump prices can vary by station, road, brand, discounts and timing.
Diesel moved higher
Diesel averaged $5.141 per gallon in the Memphis metro on July 31. That was 0.3 cents above the previous dayโs $5.138 and 10.3 cents higher than the week-ago average of $5.038.
Diesel was also 44.2 cents above the month-ago average of $4.699 and $1.637 above the year-ago figure of $3.504. That higher fuel cost matters especially for contractors, landscapers, delivery operators, restaurants, service companies and other businesses that rely on diesel-powered vehicles or equipment.
Older Collierville listings show station-to-station variation
The Way.com Collierville listings, dated July 18, showed regular gasoline at $4.19 at two Kroger locations, $4.28 at the Circle K on West Poplar Avenue and $4.59 at a Shell on New Byhalia Road. Those listings are older than the July 31 AAA snapshot and should be treated as dated station examples, not a current Collierville average.
The variation is a reminder that the Memphis-metro average should not be read as the exact price at every pump. Drivers making a regular commute, planning a weekend trip or filling a work vehicle may want to compare nearby stations before stopping.
What to watch locally
For households, regular gasolineโs small day-over-day decline offers limited relief after its weekly increase. For contractors, delivery drivers, restaurants and service businesses, dieselโs larger weekly rise could put more pressure on vehicle and delivery costs if the trend continues. Weekend travelers and commuters should check prices by station and timing rather than assume every Collierville pump matches the regional average.
For now, the main pattern is mixed: regular gasoline is slightly lower than the previous day but higher than a week ago, while diesel is rising on both comparisons. Collierville readers, what are the highest and lowest pump prices you are seeing locally?
