Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in an alley near the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office area around Vermijo Avenue and Tejon Street. Officials have not released the cause of death or the person’s identity, pending the coroner’s process. Anyone with information has been asked to contact police.
Propane explosion sends two to the hospital
Firefighters responded early Thursday to a reported explosion in a detached garage on Westcliff Circle. Investigators said a propane issue in the garage likely led to an explosion, and two people were taken to the hospital with minor burn injuries. Neighbors reported a loud boom and shaking that jolted people awake.
City Council approves new downtown urban renewal district
City Council voted to approve and create a new urban renewal district tied to a multi-phase development near Moreno Street and Cascade. Supporters say the plan replaces an abandoned property and could add housing in later phases, while some nearby residents raised concerns about displacement and rising costs.
Marksheffel Road closures planned on the east side
The city announced temporary closures on Marksheffel Road between Dublin Boulevard and Stetson Hills Boulevard to finish drainage work and adjust traffic patterns. The plan includes overnight closures Thursday into Friday and Friday into Saturday, plus a daytime closure on Saturday. Detours will be posted, and some overnight construction noise is expected.
