Crab Feed Draws Crowds, Big Shows Hit Gallo Stage
Modesto, CA – March 22, 2026 – A sold-out crab feed, packed theater performances and a busy downtown calendar kept Modesto lively as spring got underway.
It was a lively weekend across Modesto, with community fundraisers and major stage performances bringing residents together downtown. From a sold-out dinner event to a full house at the Gallo Center for the Arts, the city’s arts and nonprofit groups saw strong support as the spring season begins.
MoBand Crab Feed Sells Out
The Modesto Band of Stanislaus County hosted its fourth annual crab feed Saturday night at O’Hare Hall on Oakdale Road. The popular fundraiser supports the group’s free summer concert series at Mancini Bowl in Graceada Park.
Organizers said tickets moved quickly this year, following the momentum of last year’s sellout. Both reserved tables and individual seats were claimed in advance, filling the hall with supporters eager to enjoy the evening and back a longtime community tradition.
Funds raised from the crab feed help cover essential costs for the six-concert summer season, including music, equipment and event logistics. The annual Mancini Bowl concerts regularly draw thousands of families, making the fundraiser a key piece of keeping the performances free and accessible.
Gallo Center Welcomes Touring Acts
Just a few blocks away, the Gallo Center for the Arts also saw strong attendance Friday night as The Naked Magicians brought their adults-only comedy and magic show to 10th Street. The international act, known for blending illusion with humor, included Modesto as one of its Northern California stops.
The performance added to an already active March schedule at the downtown venue. Entertainment fans turned out earlier in the week for additional live shows, underscoring the Gallo Center’s steady draw for touring productions and specialty acts.
More Music Ahead Downtown
Looking ahead, the State Theatre is preparing for a Home Grown Farewell Concert scheduled for March 28. The afternoon event is expected to bring local music supporters together at the historic downtown venue.
With spring officially underway as of March 20, Modesto’s event calendar is filling up quickly. Fundraisers, family-friendly concerts and touring stage shows are stacking up in the weeks ahead, signaling a strong start to the season for the city’s arts organizations and nonprofit groups.
For many in the community, the weekend was a reminder that downtown Modesto remains a hub for live entertainment and local tradition — from crab dinners that sustain summer concerts to touring productions that keep theater seats full.
