Deadly Crash, Serious Collision and Warm Temps Lead Modesto Headlines
It has been a busy and sobering few days across Modesto, with two serious traffic incidents and a shift in the weather drawing attention around town.
Motorcyclist Killed in La Loma Neighborhood
One person died Friday night following a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle in the La Loma neighborhood. Modesto Police say the crash happened around 10 p.m. on La Loma Avenue near Morton Boulevard.
Details remain limited as the investigation continues. Authorities have not yet released the name of the person who died or what may have led to the collision. The department’s traffic unit is handling the case.
Head-On Crash Leaves Driver Seriously Hurt
Earlier in the week, a head-on crash at McHenry Avenue and Saint Francis Avenue left at least one person with significant injuries. The collision occurred Thursday afternoon and involved a pickup truck and an SUV.
Emergency crews responded quickly and transported an injured driver to Doctors Medical Center. Northbound lanes were temporarily closed as authorities investigated the scene. The cause of the crash remains under review.
Warmer Weather Settles In
On a lighter note, Modesto is starting the week with mild and dry conditions. Forecasters say Northern California is seeing above-average temperatures, with Modesto expected to reach the mid-70s Monday.
Air quality is reported as good, offering a pleasant start to the week for commuters, outdoor workers and families spending time outside.
As investigations continue into the recent crashes, local officials are reminding drivers to stay alert and use extra caution, especially at busy intersections and during evening hours.
