Officials described the change as a precaution focused on visibility and reassurance, especially in public places that could draw attention. The goal, they said, is to be seen and present while continuing routine monitoring.
City Council to discuss privacy concerns over license-plate readers
Two City representatives have placed the city’s license plate-reading camera program on today’s (March 3) City Council agenda. The discussion is expected to focus on how collected data could be used and whether current protections are strong enough.

Early-morning skywatch: total lunar eclipse over El Paso
Early Tuesday morning, a total lunar eclipse was forecast to be visible over the region, with mostly clear skies expected. If you missed it, it was still a timely reminder that March is shaping up as a busy month for outdoor plans around town.
Between sports schedules and city events, warmer weather often brings more reasons to be out and about — and a little more reason to keep an eye on both calendars and the sky.
