Fayetteville Route 20 Buses Now Run Every 30 Minutes

Bus service on Route 20 in South Fayetteville is now scheduled every 30 minutes, doubling the frequency from the previous once-an-hour service. The change began Aug. 1, 2026, as Fayetteville also introduced broader service changes on College Avenue.

For Route 20 riders, the change reduces the scheduled gap between buses from 60 minutes to 30 minutes. That gives people traveling through South Fayetteville more frequent options for work, school, shopping, appointments and connections to other routes.

The City of Fayetteville announced the Route 20 improvement July 24. The change is an ongoing service update, not a temporary event or a single-day schedule adjustment.

What changed for Route 20 riders

Before Aug. 1, buses on Route 20 ran once every 60 minutes. The new schedule places buses 30 minutes apart along the South Fayetteville route.

The city’s public-transit information identifies Route 20 as a South Fayetteville service and lists the current frequency as every 30 minutes. The practical effect is a shorter scheduled wait for riders who miss a bus or need more flexibility when planning a trip.

The city has not published ridership results or an operating-cost figure for the frequency increase. The confirmed change is the scheduled service itself: Route 20 moved from hourly buses to service every half-hour beginning Aug. 1.

College Avenue service expanded

The Aug. 1 changes also affected College Avenue. Razorback Transit took over College Avenue bus service beginning that day, according to the city.

College Avenue service now includes Saturdays and weekday evening trips running as late as 11 p.m. Buses on the corridor also run every 30 minutes instead of hourly, giving riders more frequent scheduled service during the week.

The added Saturday trips and later weekday service create more scheduled options for people who travel the corridor outside traditional daytime hours. The change also affects how riders use College Avenue as part of Fayetteville’s broader transit network.

The city identifies both Razorback Transit and Ozark Regional Transit as systems serving Fayetteville. Its description of the College Avenue change specifically says Razorback Transit took over that service beginning Aug. 1.

Another College Avenue route

Ozark Regional Transit expanded Route 10 service on College Avenue on May 4, 2026. That route connects Downtown Fayetteville with the Mall/Uptown area.

The Route 10 expansion predates the Aug. 1 Route 20 and College Avenue changes, but it adds another service change along the same major corridor. Together, the updates give riders more frequent or longer-running service on parts of the Fayetteville network.

Bus-stop improvements remain a future goal

Fayetteville has paired the schedule changes with a longer-term goal for bus-stop amenities. The city says it aims to add covers and benches at all bus stops by 2028.

That target concerns the waiting environment rather than the Aug. 1 schedules. It remains a stated city goal; the city has not announced that covers and benches are already in place at every stop.

For now, the main service change is in effect: South Fayetteville’s Route 20 buses are scheduled every 30 minutes, while College Avenue has 30-minute service, Saturday trips and weekday evening service extending as late as 11 p.m.
