Fontana Local Headlines Roundup
Fontana, CA – February 21, 2026 – Community celebrations, public safety operations and local events highlight today’s top stories around the city.
Fontana students highlighted at Black History Month celebration
Fontana Unified School District recently honored more than a thousand Black students for their academic success, attendance and leadership during its fourth annual Black History Month celebration. The district-wide event, held earlier this month and spotlighted again this week, showcased student art, music and cultural performances while recognizing families and community partners who support student achievement.
District leaders emphasized that the celebration is about more than awards. It is also intended to build pride, highlight positive role models and reaffirm the district’s commitment to equity. Multiple award categories were named after influential Black historical figures, tying students’ accomplishments to broader stories of resilience and service.
Regional crime operation includes Fontana enforcement
A multi-agency public safety operation across San Bernardino County led to more than one hundred arrests and the seizure of dozens of firearms, including several unregistered weapons. The weeklong effort, coordinated by the county sheriff’s department and partner agencies, included targeted patrols and search warrants in multiple cities, among them Fontana.
Officials said the operation focused on reducing violent crime, disrupting gang activity and curbing illegal gun trafficking. While most enforcement occurred countywide, Fontana was identified as one of the areas where teams conducted patrols. Authorities noted that similar operations will continue in the coming months as part of an ongoing county strategy to address crime hot spots.
Cars and coffee meet-up gathers local auto enthusiasts
Fontana’s car culture was on display this morning as the Fontaneros Cars and Coffee event brought classic, custom and performance vehicles to Arrow Boulevard. Hosted at a local market, the gathering invited residents to start their Saturday with coffee, donuts and a parking lot full of vintage and modern rides.
Organizers promoted the meet-up as a family-friendly way to connect neighbors and raise the profile of local car clubs. Attendees were encouraged to bring small donations to support future events. With free admission and an informal atmosphere, the gathering added a community-focused option to the weekend calendar.
City events keep arts and culture in focus
Fontana’s official calendar featured an adult paint night at a city arts facility on Friday, giving teens and adults a low-cost chance to explore painting with guidance from local instructors. The session is part of an ongoing series designed to make arts programming accessible to residents across the city.
Looking ahead, the city is promoting additional cultural and networking events through the end of February, reflecting an effort to keep community spaces active and to provide more opportunities for residents to gather close to home.
