Former South San Francisco Ramada Inn Being Converted to Senior Housing

Renovation is underway at South San Francisco’s former Ramada Inn, where San Mateo County and local partners are converting the four-story hotel into housing intended to help seniors experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

The property is on Airport Boulevard near the city’s Old Town area. Work inside the building includes plumbing upgrades and other renovation activity, according to the county.

A planned housing resource for older adults

The project is intended to help older residents stay off the streets by creating a local housing option for people facing homelessness or at risk of losing housing. The county expects the converted property to open later in 2026.

Prospective residents are not guaranteed placement in the project. The county’s report does not identify the final number of housing units, the resident eligibility and application process, the total project cost or the mix of funding supporting the work.
