Top headline: Early-morning shooting under investigation
Fort Worth police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and two others hurt during a large gathering near the area of NW 35th Street, close to Fort Worth Meacham International Airport. Officers arrived around 3:40 a.m. Sunday and found a victim at the scene; two additional victims were later located at hospitals.
Investigators said an altercation in a parking lot preceded the gunfire. The medical examiner’s office is expected to identify the person who died. Anyone with information was asked to contact police at 817-392-4222, with anonymous tips also accepted through Crime Stoppers.
Weekend wrap: Cowtown Marathon sets participation record
The Cowtown Marathon weekend drew more than 29,000 runners, setting a new registration record for the two-day event in Fort Worth. Runners came from across the U.S. and multiple countries, with races ranging from 5K and 10K events to the marathon and ultra-marathon.
One of Sunday’s standout moments: Fort Worth runner McKale Montgomery became the first woman in the ultra-marathon’s history to place first overall, finishing ahead of all male competitors. Organizers said proceeds also helped fund youth running support through the C.A.L.F. Program, including shoes and entries for thousands of children.
Sports: TCU women claim another Big 12 regular-season title
TCU’s women’s basketball team secured its second straight outright Big 12 regular-season championship with a home win over Baylor on Sunday at Schollmaier Arena. The victory extended a long home winning streak and kept Fort Worth in the national conversation heading into postseason play.

Forecasters say a cold front is expected to reach North Texas on Wednesday, March 4, with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms later in the day.
