A busy 48 hours in Fort Worth mixed public-safety updates with big regional business numbers and a closely watched school-policy vote.
1) Multi-county pursuit ends in crash on Camp Bowie
Authorities say a pre-dawn pursuit that began in Ellis County ended in Fort Worth on Thursday, February 26, after a suspect vehicle crashed in the 6300 block of Camp Bowie. Deputies reported being shot at during the chase, and Fort Worth officers said they also came under fire and saw items thrown from the vehicle. Five people were taken into custody, and officials reported a minor injury to an officer and a non-life-threatening injury to one suspect.
2) Fort Worth ISD votes down designated prayer-time policy
Fort Worth ISD trustees voted 7-1 Tuesday night to reject adding a designated period for prayer or religious text reading. The vote was required under a 2025 state law that set a March 1 deadline for boards statewide to take an up-or-down vote. District administrators argued existing rules already protect students’ ability to pray voluntarily and that the proposed framework, including parent consent forms and liability waivers, would be difficult to manage in practice.
3) AllianceTexas report highlights regional economic footprint
New figures released this week put AllianceTexas’ long-run regional economic impact at an estimated $142.9 billion, including $12.9 billion attributed to 2025 alone. The report also describes a growing employment base tied to the north Fort Worth development, citing more than 600 companies and over 73,000 direct jobs. Locally, leaders framed the numbers as a sign that logistics, aviation, manufacturing and related services remain central to Fort Worth’s growth story.
4) Tarrant County College weighs new or updated student fees
Trustees were scheduled to vote February 26 on whether to implement additional student fees starting in the 2027 academic year. The proposal discussed publicly includes charging a flat lab fee of up to $24 per credit hour for courses with lab components, and potentially adding materials-related fees in certain programs. College officials tied the discussion to shrinking property-tax revenue from exemptions, rising operating costs and a multi-year tuition freeze.
