Fort Worth residents can vote in 2026 Scenic City People’s Choice contest
Fort Worth is among the certified Texas Scenic Cities in a public-choice contest open through October 30, with the planned winner announcement set for November 12.
Fort Worth residents have until October 30, 2026, to vote for the city in the 2026 Scenic City People’s Choice Award, a statewide civic-recognition contest administered by Scenic Texas.
The City of Fort Worth posted its local voting request on July 27. Scenic Texas lists Fort Worth among the certified Texas Scenic Cities eligible for the contest.
How the Fort Worth vote works
Scenic Texas says voters should select a participating certified Scenic City and submit a ballot through the contest page. Only one vote per Internet Protocol, or IP, address is permitted.
The voting period ends October 30, 2026. The restriction means participants should not treat the contest as an unlimited ballot drive or submit multiple ballots from the same IP address.
What the award recognizes
Scenic Texas says the People’s Choice Award recognizes certified Texas Scenic Cities that demonstrate leadership and commitment to preserving, protecting and enhancing the scenic character of their communities.
The organization connects that work with scenic beauty, community pride, public spaces and efforts to create more beautiful, vibrant and sustainable places to live, work and visit.
The contest is a public-choice recognition program, not an objective ranking of environmental performance. A Fort Worth result would reflect the contest vote rather than establish a formal measure of the city’s environmental record.
When the result is expected
Scenic Texas plans to announce the 2026 winner on November 12, 2026, during the Annual Scenic City Awards Ceremony at the Texas Municipal League Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
That is a planned announcement date, not a guarantee that the date or ceremony details cannot change.
What the vote does not change
The People’s Choice contest is not a Fort Worth city election, binding referendum or funding decision. The result would not, by itself, change city services, taxes, regulations, development approvals or environmental policy.
For Fort Worth residents, the immediate consequence is an opportunity to participate in a statewide recognition contest and potentially help the city receive public acknowledgment for its scenic and community-character efforts. Voting remains open through October 30, with the result pending until the planned November 12 announcement.
