Dog recovering after coyote attack

A Frankfort family’s dachshund, Daisy, is back home and healing after being carried off by coyotes in the Prestwick subdivision last week. Her owner reportedly chased the animals barefoot across the nearby golf course until the coyote finally dropped the dog, allowing neighbors to help rush her to an emergency vet.

Daisy suffered serious injuries, including lung and rib damage, and her veterinary bills have climbed into the tens of thousands of dollars, but her family says she is now eating, walking outside, and slowly regaining strength. The ordeal is a sharp reminder for residents to keep small pets close, especially at dawn, dusk, and overnight.

Chamber plans Women in Business Awards Night

The Frankfort Chamber of Commerce has announced its upcoming Women in Business Awards Night, an evening dedicated to celebrating local women who keep the village’s economy and civic life moving. Categories range from Behind the Scenes and Community Supporter to Family Business, Future Star, Mentor, Superwoman, and Sustainable Change Maker.

The awards event is scheduled for March 19 from 5 to 9 p.m. at CD&ME, with tickets priced at $60 for Chamber members and $70 for nonmembers. Organizers say they hope the celebration will highlight both long-time contributors and emerging leaders in the business community.

Frankfort Chophouse officially opens

Frankfort Chophouse, the new fine-dining steakhouse at the Homestead Center on West Laraway Road, has moved from soft opening into full service. Village officials praised the renovation and early service this week, and the restaurant has begun taking reservations for its regular schedule.

The chophouse describes itself as a modern steakhouse with an old-world feel, offering a menu that ranges from seared scallops and seafood to a full slate of prime steaks. With its opening, Frankfort adds another destination spot for special-occasion dinners and date nights close to home.
