Police investigate officer-involved shooting in Glenmoor

Fremont police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday night in the Glenmoor neighborhood. Detectives working with other Bay Area agencies were tracking suspects tied to a series of burglaries across multiple cities, including incidents in Fremont last year.

When officers tried to stop the suspects, a vehicle pursuit began and ended when the car was disabled near Blacow Road and Mattos Court. Four people ran from the vehicle. Around 9:45 p.m., an officer shot one suspect during the encounter. That person was taken to the hospital and is expected to need further medical care. The officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.

Three additional suspects were arrested in connection with burglary cases in other jurisdictions. Police say no further suspects are outstanding and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The incident is being reviewed under the department’s critical-incident protocols.

Major-injury crash on I-880 near Dixon Landing Road

Early Monday morning, a multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 880 just north of Dixon Landing Road left one person with major injuries, according to initial reports shared by local traffic and community alert channels. The collision was reported around 1:35 a.m. and involved multiple vehicles in the Fremont stretch of the freeway.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and at least one person was transported for significant injuries. The crash added to a series of recent serious collisions in the I-880 corridor, an area that has seen heavy overnight traffic and ongoing construction activity. Drivers in the area can expect occasional delays as investigations and cleanup work continue.

Laundry dispute ends in stabbing, suspect arrested

In a separate incident, Fremont police say a domestic argument over laundry escalated into a stabbing late last week. Officers responded after a person was reportedly attacked with a kitchen knife during the dispute.

Police detained a suspect at the scene and recovered the weapon. The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening. Detectives are reviewing statements and evidence to determine possible charges, and officials noted there is no broader safety threat tied to the case.

With multiple serious incidents in just a few days, Fremont officials are again urging residents to report suspicious activity tied to vehicle or residential burglaries, and to use extra caution on late-night freeway trips through the city.
