Geneva approves Chianti’s expansion and Clarence Solar project

The Geneva City Council approved two development-related land-use actions July 20, 2026: a text amendment and special use for Chianti’s to add a sit-down component, and the Clarence Solar special-use project.

The City of Geneva later updated its development-project map to include both council-approved actions. The map update records the decisions as part of the city’s public list of development projects.

Chianti’s approval

The council approved a text amendment and special use for Chianti’s. The city said the approvals will allow the restaurant site to add a sit-down component.

The text amendment changes the applicable land-use language, while the special use allows the specified activity at the site under Geneva’s development process. Together, the approvals change what may operate at the Chianti’s location.

The council’s action establishes permission for the additional sit-down component. It does not establish that the added dining area has opened or that operations have begun.

Clarence Solar

The council also approved the Clarence Solar special-use project. The city identified Clarence Solar as a solar farm in its announcement and added the project to the same development-project map as the Chianti’s approval.

The approval authorizes the solar special use within Geneva’s local land-use framework. It is a municipal development decision, rather than confirmation that the project is operating.

The city’s announcement does not identify the projects’ addresses, acreage, construction schedules, investment amounts, seating capacity or solar-generation capacity. It also does not state the vote totals or list conditions attached to either approval.

The confirmed change is the City Council’s July 20 approval of both actions and the city’s subsequent addition of the projects to its development-project map.
