Groveport road work brings summer construction, parking limits and park-path work

Groveport’s 2026 street-maintenance program is moving through a phased construction schedule, bringing pavement work, temporary parking restrictions and possible traffic disruptions to several locations.

The city awarded the contract to Strawser Paving Company, Inc. According to Groveport’s July 1 construction update, the program includes pavement removal and resurfacing, full-depth repairs, curb and curb-ramp repairs, and improvements to shared-use paths.

Where work is scheduled

The roadway and alley locations listed by the city are Buckeye Alley from College Street to Walnut Street; Raver Alley from Main Street south to Canal Street; Hilly Alley from Canal Street to Cherry Street; Shoemaker Alley from Center Street to College Street; and Madison Lane from Firehouse Lane south to the end of the street.

The program also includes full-depth repair on Green Pointe Drive South, from Groveport Road South to a point just north of 5925 Green Pointe Drive South.

At Groveport Park, the lower-level parking lot is scheduled for resurfacing, including partial- and full-depth pavement repairs. The project also covers shared-use walking and biking paths near the lower-level front pond, alongside Richardson Road and around the outdoor Aquatic Center.

Timing and access changes

The city’s July 1 update said alley work could begin as early as the week of July 6, with Madison Lane work anticipated to begin the week of July 19. Pavement repairs on Green Pointe Drive South were expected to begin in mid-August, while Groveport Park work was scheduled for after Labor Day. The city noted that weather could affect the schedule.

Residents near active work areas should watch for temporary curbside parking prohibitions. The city said the contractor is expected to post signs before work begins and warned that traffic flow may be disrupted during construction. Travel lanes are expected to remain open on most streets when possible, but drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes around work zones.

Part of the city’s annual maintenance plan

Groveport’s engineering department says the annual program is developed from pavement-condition reviews and is intended to extend the useful life of streets before more extensive rehabilitation is needed. The city’s 2026 budget lists the annual street-maintenance program among its significant capital projects.

The work is phased rather than a single completed project. Residents near the listed streets, alleys and park facilities should rely on posted signs and Groveport’s Engineering Department project updates for changes to timing, access or parking.
