Hanford Gas Rises to $5.49 as Diesel Eases to $6.60
Hanford-Corcoran regular gas rose slightly to $5.49 while diesel eased to $6.60 in AAAโs latest check, with both fuels still well above last year.
Regular gasoline and diesel moved in opposite directions in AAAโs latest Hanford-Corcoran price check. Regular gas rose three-tenths of a cent from the previous day to an average of $5.490 per gallon, while diesel fell 5.9 cents to $6.599.
Rounded for drivers, that puts regular gasoline at about $5.49 per gallon and diesel at about $6.60. These are Hanford-Corcoran metro averages, not the exact price at every station in Hanford. Pump prices can vary by location, payment method, membership discounts and when a station last updated its sign.
Regular gas is slightly higher than yesterday
The latest regular-gas average is up $0.003 from the previous day. The broader trend is also higher: the average is up $0.038 from a week ago, $0.200 from a month ago and $1.154 from the same point last year.
For a driver filling a 15-gallon tank, the year-over-year difference works out to roughly $17.31 more for a full tank, before accounting for station-to-station differences. That adds pressure to household budgets, especially for commuters who drive long distances to work, school, medical appointments or shopping.
Diesel eases today but remains higher over time
Diesel moved lower in the latest daily comparison, falling $0.059 from yesterday. It remains higher than it was over longer periods, however: up $0.065 from a week ago, $0.274 from a month ago and $1.614 from a year ago.
That pattern matters beyond owners of diesel-powered vehicles. Higher diesel costs can affect farm equipment, delivery trucks, contractors, landscaping crews, service fleets and other businesses that depend on commercial vehicles. Transportation expenses can also work their way into the prices of food, restaurant supplies, construction materials and home services, although the size and timing of those effects will vary by business.
Hanford-area prices remain below the California regular-gas average
AAA lists the current California regular-gas average at $5.652 per gallon, compared with $5.490 for the Hanford-Corcoran metro. The latest local diesel average is $6.599. Both local fuel prices remain substantially higher than they were a year ago.
A federal Energy Information Administration weekly benchmark released July 28 put California regular gasoline at $5.489 per gallon and on-highway diesel at $6.670. That weekly statewide data provides broader context, but it is not a same-day estimate for Hanford.
Drivers planning weekend trips or regular work travel may want to compare nearby station signs before filling up. A few cents per gallon can matter over repeated fill-ups, particularly for households with multiple vehicles and operators who consume diesel by the hundreds of gallons.
