Hialeah Gardens, FL — February 7, 2026 — Car fans packed a local meet, the city readies key meetings, and Okeechobee Road work keeps traffic shifting.
Hialeah Gardens Daily Brief
Here is a quick look at what is happening in and around Hialeah Gardens as the weekend gets underway.
Car crowd rolls into Rodspeed
Car enthusiasts converged at a performance shop along Northwest 107th Avenue on Friday night for the Official Clean Culture x Rodspeed Miami pre-meet. The gathering brought custom builds, lowered rides, and tuners from across South Florida to a Hialeah Gardens storefront, kicking off a full weekend of car culture with a larger show scheduled in Miami today. Organizers promoted a family friendly atmosphere, with spectators invited to walk the lot, take photos, and talk with owners about their projects.
Busy stretch coming up for City Hall
City Hall is heading into a full February schedule. The Planning and Zoning Board meets Monday evening to review development items, followed by the Water and Sewer Board on Tuesday night. Later in the month, the City Council is set to reconvene, and residents are reminded that municipal offices will close for Presidents Day. The city is also promoting a late February visit from the Miami Dade tax collector’s mobile team, which will set up at the Water and Sewer Department to help residents handle driver licenses, tax payments, parking permits, and other paperwork close to home.
Okeechobee Road work still reshaping commutes
Major reconstruction on the Okeechobee Road corridor through Hialeah Gardens continues to affect daily driving patterns. Transportation officials are finishing a multiyear overhaul that includes a second level overpass at Hialeah Gardens Boulevard and several new bridges, ramps, and signalized intersections. The goal is to separate heavy truck traffic from local drivers, improve safety, and cut congestion in one of the region’s busiest industrial corridors. Drivers should continue to expect shifting lane patterns, periodic lane closures, and slower speeds near the work zone, especially around peak hours, and allow extra time when heading toward the Palmetto Expressway or Interstate 75.
