Hialeah sets Sept. 8 and Sept. 22 hearings for fiscal 2027 budget
Hialeah has scheduled two public hearings on the city’s fiscal 2027 budget, giving residents dates, a location and formal opportunities to comment as the annual budget approval process moves forward.
The hearings are scheduled for Sept. 8 and Sept. 22, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the third-floor City Council Chambers at 501 Palm Avenue. A regularly scheduled Hialeah City Council meeting is set to follow each hearing at 7 p.m.
How residents can participate
City notices say interested members of the public may attend the budget hearings and provide public comment in person at the Council Chambers. The city also says the public meetings will be viewable through its official YouTube page.
The first hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 8, followed by the second hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The notices describe the Sept. 8 hearing as the first reading and public hearing and the Sept. 22 hearing as the second reading and public hearing.
What the notices establish
The City Clerk’s notices establish the hearing dates, the 5:30 p.m. start time, the 501 Palm Avenue location and the public-access options. They also state that the regularly scheduled City Council meetings will begin at 7 p.m. after each hearing.
The first notice was posted July 20, 2026. The city posted a consolidated notice of the hearing dates July 29, followed by the second-hearing notice July 30.
Hialeah’s Office of Management and Budget develops and administers the city’s annual operating and capital budgets, according to the city’s department description.
What remains unknown
The published hearing notices do not disclose a proposed fiscal 2027 millage rate, total spending figure or departmental spending allocations.
The schedule therefore should not be read as approval of a budget, tax rate or spending plan. Those details are separate from the hearing notices and will depend on city budget materials and action taken through the remaining annual approval process.
Residents who want to comment can plan to attend either hearing at 501 Palm Avenue. The city’s notices also provide the Office of the City Clerk as a contact for participation questions and disability accommodations.
