Richmond is waking up to a mix of urgent crime investigations and traffic disruptions, alongside a few community updates shaping the week ahead.
Woman Injured in Downtown Hit-and-Run
Police are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a woman injured in downtown Richmond. The crash happened Monday, and the driver reportedly fled the scene without stopping to help.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were described as serious but not believed to be life-threatening. Investigators are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to come forward.
Two Separate Fatal Shootings Under Investigation
Authorities are also investigating multiple deadly shootings across the Richmond area. In Whitcomb Court, a man was killed in a shooting Monday afternoon. Detectives have not yet released details about a suspect.
In nearby Henrico County, police identified an 18-year-old man as the victim of another fatal shooting. That case remains under active investigation as well.
Officials are urging community members to share any information that could assist detectives as they work to piece together what happened in both cases.
Lane Closures and Crash Snarl Traffic
Drivers are being advised to plan ahead this week. Multiple lane closures are scheduled along Powhite Parkway as part of ongoing road work, with intermittent restrictions expected to impact commutes.
Separately, a crash on I-64 caused significant traffic delays Monday, backing up vehicles during peak travel times before lanes were cleared.
Motorists should continue to monitor traffic alerts and allow extra travel time as projects and investigations unfold.
