Interim City Manager Begins as U. City Schedules Public Forum
University City, MO — February 7, 2026 — City leadership shifts as an interim manager begins, a public forum is set, and Delmar construction continues.
University City enters the weekend with several notable civic updates, including a change at City Hall, upcoming opportunities for resident input, and ongoing construction activity along Delmar Boulevard.
Interim City Manager Takes Over
University City Council has appointed Brooke A. Sharp as Interim City Manager, effective February 6, 2026. Sharp has served as Deputy City Manager since 2022 and steps into the role following the retirement of longtime City Manager Gregory Rose.
Rose’s retirement closes a three-decade public service career, much of it spent guiding University City through redevelopment efforts, infrastructure upgrades, and neighborhood-focused initiatives. City officials say the interim appointment ensures continuity while a national search for a permanent city manager gets underway.
Community Forum Set for City Manager Search
Residents will have a chance to weigh in on the future of city leadership next week. A Community Engagement Forum tied to the city manager search is scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, at 7:00 p.m. at the Heman Park Community Center.
The forum is designed to gather feedback on priorities, leadership qualities, and community expectations. City leaders say public input will help shape the profile used during the national recruitment process.
Delmar Construction Activity Continues
Construction-related impacts continue near the LOCAL on Delmar apartment development. City officials have advised residents and businesses of infrastructure work tied to water tap installation in the area.
While the project is part of a larger, long-term redevelopment effort along Delmar Boulevard, short-term lane shifts and access changes may affect traffic and nearby properties. Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to allow extra time and watch for posted signage.
Looking Ahead
With leadership transitions underway and redevelopment projects moving forward, the coming weeks are expected to bring more updates on both city operations and neighborhood improvements. Residents are encouraged to stay engaged through public meetings and city notices.
