Irvine-Area Gas Reaches $5.667 as Diesel Tops $7
Irvine, CA — Orange County gas rose to $5.667 and diesel crossed $7 in AAA’s latest check, adding pressure for commuters, fleets and local businesses.
Regular gasoline moved higher again in the Irvine area, while diesel crossed above $7 per gallon in AAA’s Orange County price check dated August 1, 2026.
AAA listed the Orange County regular-gas average at $5.667 per gallon, up 0.3 cents from the previous day. The average was 4.4 cents higher than a week earlier, 36.8 cents higher than a month earlier and $1.248 higher than a year earlier.
Diesel moves above $7
Diesel rose separately to $7.008 per gallon in the Orange County benchmark. That was an increase of 1.5 cents from the previous day, 6.9 cents from a week earlier, 53.5 cents from a month earlier and $1.978 from a year earlier.
The previous AAA check listed diesel at $6.993. The latest increase moved the Orange County benchmark above $7 per gallon.
One Irvine station is above the county average
A 7-Eleven station at 3090 Main St. in Irvine listed regular gasoline at $5.749 per gallon. That price is 8.2 cents above the Orange County average, but it represents one station rather than an Irvine-wide average. Pump prices can vary by location and may change during the day.
The separate movements matter to different groups of local drivers. Higher regular-gas prices can raise weekly costs for Irvine commuters, households with multiple vehicles and people making longer weekend trips.
