ICE Operations in Jersey City Lead to Multiple Detentions
Over the weekend, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducted operations in Jersey City, Hoboken, and New Brunswick, detaining multiple individuals, including some on NJ Transit light rail. Local officials and advocacy groups have expressed concern over these actions, urging residents to document ICE activity and warning of random detentions and unmarked vehicles. Jersey City Mayor James Solomon confirmed the detentions, stating that individuals were apprehended ‘at random on their way to work.’
Journal Square Undergoes Significant Redevelopment
Journal Square, once considered a neglected area, is now experiencing a major transformation. New developments include the 54-story 505 Summit tower, Hudson County Community College’s new Center for Student Success, and the revitalization of the historic Loew’s Jersey Theater. These projects aim to modernize the area and attract more residents and businesses.
