KTEC Sets Aug. 13 Opening for New Kenosha Campus

KTEC Schools of Innovation will hold a ribbon-cutting and grand opening Aug. 13 for its new Kenosha campus, a renovated former Pick ’n Save building at 1901 63rd St.

The approximately 56,000-square-foot facility is planned to become the home of KTEC’s 4K-12 program by fall 2026. The relocation would move the program from its current 39th Avenue location to a larger campus intended to bring classrooms, career-training labs and student recreation facilities together in one place.

Opening-day schedule

The Aug. 13 event will begin with a ribbon-cutting at 4:45 p.m. A welcome program is scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by campus tours from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The event is the scheduled public opening of the renovated building. KTEC’s regular 4K-12 relocation is planned for fall 2026, so the grand opening and the start of classes are separate steps in the campus timeline.

What the campus is planned to include

KTEC’s plans call for labs focused on welding, manufacturing, construction and transportation. The facility is also planned to include technology-equipped classrooms, a full-size gymnasium and outdoor recreation space.

Those features are intended to expand the setting available for career-and-technical education while providing a planned single 4K-12 home for KTEC students. The campus is designed for both traditional classroom instruction and hands-on training in technical fields.

The project also repurposes an existing commercial building. KTEC purchased the former grocery store and is renovating it for use as a school campus, rather than developing a new building on an undeveloped site.

Companies working on the project

Findorff is serving as the project’s general contractor. Kenosha-based Partners in Design is overseeing the architectural planning.

The project therefore involves a major conversion of an existing 63rd Street commercial property into an education facility, with construction and design work supporting the school’s planned move by fall.

What happens next

The next scheduled public milestone is the Aug. 13 grand opening at the new campus. The broader transition is expected to follow by fall 2026, when KTEC plans to relocate its 4K-12 program from 39th Avenue.

KTEC’s announcement does not state the project’s total renovation cost or the campus’s final enrollment capacity. It does identify the building’s approximate size, its planned instructional and recreation spaces, the construction and design firms involved, and the schedule for the opening-day program.
